How does this DCA backtest work?
It buys the selected dollar amount at each daily, weekly or monthly price point in the selected period, then values those coins at the latest returned price.
Backtest recurring crypto buys against a lump sum using historical prices.
Each scheduled buy purchases amount ÷ price units. Total value is accumulated units × latest daily price. The lump-sum comparison invests the same total at the first scheduled price.
The backtest uses daily observations, treating a weekly or monthly buy as the first daily observation at or after each interval. Monthly spacing is approximated as 30 days. Fees, slippage, taxes, and unavailable observations are excluded.
